International Short Course “Advanced Clinical and Natural Product Metabolomics: FOODOMICS” under the CliNaPM Series
The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, organized the international short course “Short Course in Advanced Clinical and Natural Product Metabolomics: FOODOMICS” under the CliNaPM course series from 21–25 December 2020 at the KKU Science Park, to develop knowledge and skills in Foodomics, a key discipline linking food, nutrition and health with Precision Medicine.

The course focused on applying advanced metabolomics technologies to study the effects of food and natural products on biological systems. Topics covered Clinical and natural product metabolomics, NMR principles and data acquisition, LC-MS principles, data analysis and interpretation, and the systematic use of in-depth data for research and development of food and health products.

The course featured distinguished international keynote speakers, Prof. Yulan Wang, Professor of Metabolomics at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, and the Singapore Phenome Center, Singapore, and Assoc. Prof. Watcharin Loilome, M.D., Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, who shared their knowledge and experience in Foodomics and Clinical Metabolomics with participants. Faculty members, researchers and experts from Khon Kaen University, industry and leading analytical instrument manufacturers such as Bruker also served as speakers, strengthening participants' theoretical and practical understanding, as well as the real-world application of analytical technologies and instruments in food, health and precision medicine research.

The FOODOMICS course was open to faculty members, researchers, scientists, graduate students, physicians and other interested participants, with the aim of enhancing research capabilities, building academic collaboration networks and advancing phenomics and metabolomics research in Thailand. The registration fee covered laboratory materials, refreshments, lunch and welcome activities. Participants were required to bring their own laptop computers for the hands-on sessions. The CliNaPM: FOODOMICS course reflects the role of Khon Kaen University and the National Phenome Institute as a regional hub for Foodomics and Metabolomics knowledge, supporting research, innovation and sustainable human resource development in health sciences.
