
On 21 February 2025, staff and students from the Science Classrooms in University-Affiliated Schools project (SCiUS-KKU) at Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, Secondary Division (Mo Din Daeng), visited the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, to learn about the research process and modern scientific technologies in phenomics.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Director of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, welcomed the visitors and gave a lecture on Phenomics, focusing on the relationships between genes, environmental factors and gene expression, which form a key foundation of modern bioscience and medical research. The students also had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the field.
The visit aimed to give students the opportunity to learn about the research process and the application of phenomics technologies. Researchers from the National Phenome Institute, Ms. Thanaporn Kulthawatsiri, Mr. Theerayut Bubpamala and Mr. Natthawut Prathumwan, explained the basic principles of the institute's High-throughput Platform of research instruments and their use in real-world research.
In addition, the institute's research team, led by Dr. Wassana Jamnongkan, Assistant Director for Analytical Services, together with Dr. Marisa Attapong, General Manager; Dr. Navaporn Sritong, Research Scientist Level 1; Dr. Rattanasak Wongkomonchet; Dr. Chakkraphong Khlueapsungnoen; Ms. Naruemon Maha-amnat; Ms. Preeyakan Malikrong; Ms. Phitchaya Lawan; and Ms. Ketsaraporn Ngaopok, welcomed the group and led them on a tour of the institute's laboratories and research infrastructure.
The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, thanks the staff and students of the Science Classrooms in University-Affiliated Schools project (SCiUS-KKU) for their interest in visiting the institute. The visit was a valuable opportunity to inspire students, develop their knowledge and cultivate their skills in science and technology, laying an important foundation for developing the nation's future scientific workforce.
