NPI, KKU Holds Strategic Planning and Action Plan Review Seminar for Fiscal Year 2026
The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, held a strategic planning seminar for fiscal year 2026 to review its performance and set the institute's development direction in line with the university's strategy, the national strategy, and the country's science, research and innovation policies.

The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, held a seminar on strategic planning and action plan review for fiscal year 2026 from 13–15 February 2026 at River Tree Resort Chiang Khan, Chiang Khan District, Loei Province. The seminar aimed to review past performance, analyze the strategic context, and set the institute's development direction in line with the university's strategy, the national strategy, and the country's science, research and innovation (SRI) policies.

The seminar emphasized a participatory process involving executives and staff at all levels, analyzing both the internal and external environment through tools such as PESTEL analysis, SWOT analysis and the development of strategic options using a TOWS Matrix. This led to the definition of strategic issues, key strategies and clear performance indicators for fiscal year 2026, as well as the drafting of a concrete strategic plan and action plan framework for the institute.

The seminar was opened by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, who emphasized the institute's important role as a mechanism for driving the research strategy of the university and the nation. The institute also received valuable guidance from Dr. Suphak Yothaisong, Manager, and Ms. Benchaphon Wongchak and Ms. Wimonsiri Khachenthon, Analysts, of the Policy and Corporate Strategy Section, Planning, Budget and Corporate Strategy Division, National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), who shared approaches to systematic strategic planning.

The institute's executives were led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Director of the National Phenome Institute, together with Dr. M.L. Manida Suksawat, Deputy Director for Academic Services; Asst. Prof. Dr. Apinya Jusakul, Deputy Director for Research and Business Partnership Development; Asst. Prof. Dr. Umaporn Yordpratum, Deputy Director for Science, Research and Innovation Infrastructure and Standards Development; Dr. Wassana Jamnongkan, Assistant Director for Analytical Services; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rina Patramanon, Assistant Director for High-Performance Workforce Development; Dr. Suppanat Kosolwattana, Assistant Director for Administration; Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Ekkarntrong, Assistant Director for Administration; Dr. Premkamon Chaipanichkul, Acting Head of the Lifelong Learning Unit, Academic Services Division; Dr. Marisa Attapong, Acting Head of the Postgraduate Curriculum Development Unit; and Dr. Navaporn Sritong, Acting Head of the Bioengineering and Biosensing Systems Unit. Researchers, research assistants and staff of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, also took part in full. The seminar was intensive, allowing for in-depth exchanges of ideas and setting the organization's direction across research, academic services, high-performance workforce development, strengthening science, research and innovation infrastructure, and developing partnerships with various sectors in Thailand and abroad.

As a result of the seminar, the institute drafted a clear strategic plan for fiscal year 2026 that is aligned with the policy context and responsive to the country's long-term development. The plan will serve as a key framework for driving the mission of the National Phenome Institute toward sustainable success and toward becoming the nation's hub for phenomics and precision medicine.
