International Short Course in Advanced Clinical and Natural Product Metabolomics (CliNaPM): “Towards Precision Medicine”
The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, together with domestic and international partners including Imperial College London, the Siriraj Metabolomics & Phenomics Center, Bruker and other partner organizations, organized the international workshop “Short course in advanced Clinical and Natural Product Metabolomics (CliNaPM)” under the theme “Towards Precision Medicine” from 16 to 20 December 2019 at the Khon Kaen University Science Park.

The course aimed to build in-depth knowledge, understanding and skills in advanced metabolomics for both clinical research and natural products, a field that plays a vital role in advancing the life sciences, modern medicine and Precision Medicine. Topics included clinical metabolomics, principles and applications of NMR, principles of LC-MS and data acquisition, metabolomics data analysis and interpretation, and multi-omics integration.

The course featured Dr. Jia Li, Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, as international speaker, sharing global expertise and experience, alongside faculty members and experts from Khon Kaen University, Mahidol University and industry, including analytical instrument specialists from Bruker, giving participants a well-rounded theoretical and practical understanding. The program was open to lecturers, researchers, scientists, graduate students, physicians and related professionals, offering opportunities to build research capacity, exchange knowledge and establish international academic networks. The registration fee covered laboratory materials, refreshments, lunches and a welcome reception. Participants were required to bring their own laptops for the hands-on sessions. The CliNaPM course reflects the role of Khon Kaen University and the National Phenome Institute as a regional hub for knowledge development in phenomics and metabolomics, and their commitment to advancing medical research and innovation in support of the country’s sustainable development.
