2nd Generation Multi-Omics Short Course
The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and its omics collaboration network, organized the "2nd Generation Multi-Omics Short Course", the second edition of its short course in multi-omics, to strengthen the knowledge and skills of health science and medical personnel in advanced biotechnology.

The training was offered free of charge (FREE) in two parts: 28–29 March 2024 at the SiMR Building, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and 1–12 April 2024 at the KKU Science Park, Khon Kaen University. It was run under the KKU Phenome Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The course offered comprehensive, up-to-date coverage of multi-omics, including genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, CRISPR/Cas and metagenome analysis, with an emphasis on both theory and hands-on practice. Topics included DNA and RNA sequencing using Illumina, PacBio and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) platforms; data analysis in Python and R; gene editing with CRISPR-Cas9; and metagenomic data analysis from 16S rRNA and whole-genome sequencing.

The program aimed to enhance the capabilities of researchers, scientists and related personnel to apply multi-omics integration effectively in biomedical research, health sciences and precision medicine, while fostering academic collaboration networks between institutions.

The 2nd Generation Multi-Omics Short Course reflects the role of Khon Kaen University and the National Phenome Institute as a national hub for developing knowledge and personnel in omics technologies, and in driving research and innovation to support a sustainable health system.
