The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, participated in the 9th International Conference on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology under the theme “BMB 360°: Emerging Trends in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Research”.

From 14–16 May 2025, representatives of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, participated in the 9th International Conference on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology under the theme “BMB 360°: Emerging Trends in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Research” at the Montien Hotel Surawong, Bangkok.

At the conference, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Director of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, was honored as an Invited Speaker, presenting a lecture entitled “From Molecules to Systems: Harnessing Computational and Systems Medicine for Next-Generation Biochemical Discoveries” which presented concepts and directions for integrating biochemistry, systems biology and computational medicine to drive the next generation of bioscience discoveries.

Researchers from the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, also presented their work at this international forum:

Mr. Natthawut Prathumwan gave an Oral Presentation entitled “Oxford Nanopore Sequencing Unveils Structural Variations and Their Functional Impacts in Cholangiocarcinoma Cell Lines with Varying Degrees of Differentiation”

Ms. Preeyakan Malikrong gave a Poster Presentation entitled “Evaluation of Plasma Extraction Methods for Reliable Metabolite Quantification using ¹H-NMR Metabolomics”

The conference was also attended by students from the High-Performance Workforce Development Program for Future Bio-based Industries through the Thailand Academy of Science (Thatchawit) platform, a collaboration between Khon Kaen University and private-sector partners: Mrs. Kritsadi Rattanathammamethi and Ms. Saikham Chaimongkhon. Taking part in the conference was an important opportunity for them to learn, exchange experiences and build academic networks with national and international experts, laying an important foundation for developing the nation's future workforce in science and biotechnology.

Participation in the 9th BMB Conference reflects the role of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, in advancing research in biochemistry, molecular biology and modern omics at the international level, while promoting the development of research and personnel to keep pace with global scientific change in a sustainable way.
