From 22 to 24 January 2025, executives and researchers of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, attended the international conference “The 2nd International Symposium of Thailand Bioinformatics Research Network (TBRN 2025),” also known as The 2nd Thailand Bioinformatics Research Network International Conference, under the theme “Biology-inspired pursuits,” at the Centara Riverside Hotel, Chiang Mai.
The conference was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in collaboration with the Thailand Bioinformatics Research Network and the Center of Multidisciplinary Technology for Advanced Medicine (CMUTEAM), Chiang Mai University. Its aim was to promote collaboration and innovation among researchers and students in bioinformatics, a frontier field of modern science and a key driver of research in both medicine and agriculture.
The program included oral and poster presentations covering key topics such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics, reflecting academic progress and the comprehensive integration of knowledge across the omics.
On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Director of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, was invited to serve as Chairman and Moderator for the Plenary Lecture “Long non-coding RNAs Functions in Genomics Regulation” by Prof. Piero Carninci of the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences, Japan, a world-leading researcher in the field.
In addition, Asst. Prof. Apinya Jusakul, D.D.S., Deputy Director for Research and Business Collaboration Development, National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, accepted the role of host for the Thailand Bioinformatics Research Network (TBRN) conference in 2026 on behalf of the institute. She was accompanied by Dr. Marisa Attapong, General Manager, and Natthawut Prathumwan, researcher at the institute, who attended the conference and presented their research in both poster and oral formats.
Participation in the conference provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience among experts, researchers and related organizations at both national and international levels. It also reflects the role of the National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, as the country’s hub for phenomics and bioinformatics and its contribution to advancing Thailand toward sustainable leadership in bioinformatics on the global stage.
