KKU and NPI Delegation Visits Fudan University’s Human Phenome Institute to Strengthen International Research Collaboration
A delegation from Khon Kaen University and the National Phenome Institute visited the Human Phenome Institute at Fudan University to strengthen international research collaboration.

On 3 December 2024, a delegation from Khon Kaen University (KKU) and the National Phenome Institute (NPI), Khon Kaen University, visited the Human Phenome Institute at Fudan University in the People’s Republic of China. The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, accompanied by Prof. Pewpan Maleewong, M.D., Vice President for Research; Assoc. Prof. Thuss Sanguansak, M.D., Associate Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication; Assoc. Prof. Suchaorn Saengnipanthkul, M.D., pediatrician at the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Research Section, Research and Business Collaboration Development Division, National Phenome Institute; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Director of the National Phenome Institute and lecturer in the Systems Biosciences and Computational Medicine program (under establishment), Faculty of Medicine; Dr. M.L. Manida Suksawat, Deputy Director for Academic Services, National Phenome Institute; Dr. Marisa Attapong and Dr. Navaporn Sritong, research scientists; and Phawini Khamla, international relations officer at the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University.

The purpose of the visit was to learn about research and development capabilities in Human Phenome Research, exchange academic perspectives, and discuss ways to develop international research collaboration in the future.

The delegation was welcomed by senior executives and researchers of Fudan University, including Prof. Yugang Jiang (Vice President of Fudan University), Prof. Mei Tian (Executive Director, Human Phenome Institute), Ms. Yefang Xu (Deputy Director, Office of Global Partnerships), Prof. Chen Ding (Deputy Director, Human Phenome Institute), Prof. Feng Qian (Assistant Director, Human Phenome Institute), Prof. Binzhi Qian (Assistant Director – International Collaboration, Human Phenome Institute), Prof. Huiru Tang (Metabolomics Research), Prof. Xudong Wang (Intracellular Imaging Research), Assistant Prof. Han Liu (Health Strategy Think Tank), Associate Prof. Chengyan Wang (Radiomics Research), Dr. Gang Huang and Dr. Jinxi Li (Principal Investigators, Human Phenome Institute).

The discussions gave both institutions the opportunity to exchange ideas on building an international academic and research collaboration network, focusing on joint research projects in phenomics, precision medicine and medical innovation, as well as exchanges of researchers, academics and students to strengthen the research capacity of both sides.

The visit to the Human Phenome Institute marks an important step in connecting the research networks of Khon Kaen University and Fudan University. It will help strengthen academic, research and medical innovation capabilities and deliver lasting benefits to medicine and health worldwide.
