Workshop: "Harnessing Phenomic Medicine and AI for Smarter Health Solutions"

The National Phenome Institute, Khon Kaen University, together with Imperial College London and an international network of researchers, held an academic workshop titled "Harnessing Phenomic Medicine and AI for Smarter Health Solutions." The workshop aimed to strengthen knowledge of phenomic medicine, multi-omics data integration, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to develop smart health systems, while serving as an important platform for building academic collaboration between Thailand and the international community.

Workshop Structure and Highlights Day 1: Foundations and Frameworks

This day focused on laying the foundations and conceptual frameworks of multi-omics and phenomic medicine through lectures by experts from a range of fields, including:

Opening Remarks: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jia Li (Imperial College London)

Keynote Lecture: Prof. Jeremy Nicholson (Imperial College London) on "Overview of Multi-Omics and Systems Biology"

Specialized lectures on Genomics, Transcriptomics, Metabonomics, Lipidomics and Glycomics

Multi-omics integration and Spatial Proteomics and Metabolomics technologies

Day 2: Metabolomics – From Sample to Data

This day offered an in-depth look at metabolomics, from experimental design and research ethics to statistical data analysis and chemometrics, along with a group workshop facilitated by faculty members and researchers from Imperial College London and Khon Kaen University.

Day 3: AI and Big Data Management

This day focused on linking the application of AI and big data management with clinical research and smart health systems, covering AI in clinical research, the management of metabolomics datasets and health data management policy in Thailand, followed by group presentations, discussion and the closing ceremony.

A Platform for International Collaboration

The workshop gave participants from academia, research and the health industry the opportunity to exchange knowledge, experience and innovative ideas, and to build collaborative networks for the sustainable development of health research and innovation in the future.

Although the workshop has concluded, it has produced new knowledge, inspiration and academic partnerships that will be a driving force in propelling Thailand toward leadership in phenomic medicine and AI for health on the global stage.
